Soap question
Does anyone use Dr. Bronner's soaps ??
I have used them many times for many different things, however, if I use it on my skin I cannot stand the way it feels afterwards. Dry, sticky, just yucky. What am I doing wrong ???? Everybody else that I know loves it and says it does not do this to their skin. I brushed my teeth with it before and it was AWWWFUL !!!!! I thought it would be a good SHTF item because of the hundreds of uses for it. Thought I'd ask before I start looking for something else. http://www.drbronner.com/DBMS/OLPE32...LiquidSoap.htm DESCRIPTION: Our most popular fragrance. I make my own soaps, but keep and use Bronners for when I run out or something. I like them. I use his bar soaps though not the liquid one. Maybe try the bars, if possible, for your skin? You can call the company and ask them too, they're helpful folk, at least the couple times I called a few years back. There may be a higher proportion of coconut oil in the liquid or something maybe? Coconut oil is a good thing even for sensitive skin , up to a point. A pure coconut oil soap (like a fisherman soap say) would be extremely drying to someone like myself. The coconut oil does lather up better than just about any other carrier though, and this is something the American consumer has come to expect(even though it has nothing to do with better cleaning), so sometimes soapers overdo it with the coconut, to make them lather up a lot - more like the big companies detergent bars. Just a guess , could be a bunch of other things I bet. Maybe a mild reaction to the peppermint oil ? Have you tried other varieties? I'd give 'em a call and see what they say. I use Doctor Burt's toothpastes and love them. |
Re: Soap question
We use that for everything and never noticed that problem.
It is concentrated, are you using too much? Do you have a water softener? Maybe it is too soft and not cutting the soap? Can't help you other than that, we use it on our pets also and it works well. |

My guess is you have very hard well water possibly calcium carbonate .....ok to drink but turns soap sticky/waxy......crappy soap and shampoo will work just fine ,they use salts to counter act bad water quality and give plenty of suds.....it's like a water softener in a bottle an ion exchange takes place and like magic you get lots of suds and no soap scum.....doesn't mean the soap or shampoo are good for your skin though. I have this problem so I use dove....but I don't like to |
